Socks

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

My son has a serious sock and shoe fetish! He puts his hands into any shoes he can find and uses his hands to 'walk' ard in the shoes. He also laughs real hard when anyone wears socks in front of him, it is most odd!!

So yesterday we were having dinner at my parents' place and Ellie was outside. After my Dad finished his dinner, he went out to play with Ellie. From inside, we could hear a lot of giggles, both from Ellie and Kong Kong. Then they walked back into the house hand-in-hand and we almost died laughing!

1 sock each for Ellie and Kong Kong! Ellie was so pleased, laughing and waving at us all! Hahahaha! Too bad the pic is blur because I was laughing so hard that my hands shook!

Lol too funny! Love how the sock reaches the top of his thigh!!

Ellie walks

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Ellie started walking around a week ago. Finally, mummy here could tick that milestone off - albeit slower than his counterparts but really, better late than never!!

Just a week after his first steps, he is walking around so much, pottering to and fro and making A LOT of noise as he does, as if to say "look out world, here I come!!!"

Right now he still looks around for us, asking to hold onto our finger when he is tired but I hear that before long, he will be running AWAY from us, rather than toward us, oh boy!!

So finally 14.5 months later, my baby has officially become a toddler. Yahoo!

Bricks!

We opened ellie's birthday present from Sean yesterday. When I took the box out and shook it around, Ellie could hardly sit still in anticipation! He kept jumping up and down, wanting me to open it faster. And he went a little crazy with the bricks after, batting them around to make A LOT of noise.

Wah hoo!! Bricks!!

Black and blue

What's that you got there Dad? *suspicious look*

Ahhhhh....

...it's a gun!

I'll destroy it!

Argh! It's become a short gun!

Learning to tip it over!

Bricks bricks, love bricksss!

Clapping after helping to pack it back

Thank you Sean, aunt Debs and uncle Foops for Ellie's new toy!

Lunch in the Park

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Today being a public holiday and all, we decided to take Ellie out to lunch. We had settled on going to Ion so I could go for yoga before that. But just as I left yoga, we got a call from Boon to have lunch at Canopy in Bishan Park.

I'm normally wary of such places cos they are overpriced and normally not very delicious. But we decided to give it a shot.

Thankfully we did because it turned out rather lovely! The food came in large portions and more importantly, was enjoyable to eat.

And the ambience was great, Ellie could walk around the park, picking up sticks and kicking stones while we waited for the food to come. Everything was so chillllll.

The cafe in the park

Daddy and baby

The boys goofing around

Merv salting the fries with his burger ( $18)

My chicken avocado sandwich which I shared with Ellie

Banana pancakes for us all!

Rounding the meal off with a cappuccino! Mmm!

Ellie played with his cars...

...and had some banana!

The husband

When asked to give a smile, LOL!

We had a great time, we'll be back!

Coupled with my yoga class in the morning, this very chilled out lunch and the pitter patter of the afternoon rain, I had this very zen feeling that I carried around for much part of the day! Naice!

A visit to the zoo

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

We visited the zoo yesterday with the 2 babies - Ellie and Jacoby! We almost didn't make it because the blazing hot sun almost made us choose a shopping center instead, the aircon just sounded too enticing!

But we were so thankful we went, the boys really enjoyed it, looking around in wide-eyed wonder!

Ok, let's go!!

My baby is ONE!

Oh boy, my baby turned one on 20.09.2009. I can't believe he is one already, it seems like he was just born!!

We wanted to throw him a party but were not sure what theme to go for (considered a touch-and-feel party and a baby food party haha). Then I stumbled upon a Mr Men and Little Miss website one night and immediately knew that was it!

So Ellie became Mr Happy for the night and we invited all his Mr Men and Little Miss friends around. It was definitely not an easy theme to do because of the lack of things to buy! I called up many suppliers to asked if they had anything in the MMLM range but they mostly said no. I was kicking myself at one point and thinking why I didn't just choose a Winnie the Pooh or Mickey Mouse theme instead and save myself some trouble? Then I called up my good friend Pat and she chirpily said, "don't worry lar! I can do this and that and that and...all you need to do is get balloons!"

And what a swell job she did! She printed out many many many flag banners with the different MMLM characters, HAND-CUT and HAND-STRUNG each one of them to make the entire place look so colorful! She even gathered her friends Trish and Kat to help with the cutting and to come early to paste everything up on the walls. I've only met T&K ONCE when we were in Bintan and here they were, stringing up decorations for my son's party. Their boyfriends even hand-drew their tee-shirts to be in theme. Maan! *very touched*

The awesome decorations team

I (and hopefully Ellie too!) had such a wonderful time that night. How not to? The whole place was filled with our favourite people! Hee. We were so happy and excited to be chattering with the LJ mummies and babies, including meeting Missy Raeann and Pam and Darien's 2 little charmers for the 1st time! Not forgetting the newest baby on the block who made an appearance as Mr Bump! Hee.

Ellie's little party

Ellie is turning 1 on 20 Sept! (20.09.2009, what a lovely date!) and we are holding a party for him!!

It's gonna be in a Mr Men and Little Miss theme which I think is kinda fun (cos I only have a couple of years that I can choose a theme for him!) but there is NOTHING in Singapore that is in that theme, save for the things in 7-11! Pat and I went to 7-11 today to do a Mr Men sweep and bought us a couple of those handphone keychain things and a nice big Mr Happy plush toy. Woo!

Thank God for Pat, she is such a great help and a wonderful party organiser. :)

Can't wait!!

Gymboree!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

We've always wanted to bring Ellie to a baby-friendly place where he could explore freely and not worry about falling onto hard ground or being poked by sharp corners. So when we walked by Gymboree at Habourfront one day, we decided to bring him in to try it out.

Given the last time he screamed his head off when we brought him to Fidgits, we asked for a 5 minute trial to see if he would take to it. When I put him down, he looked around in astonishment like 'WOW!' before heading straight for the nearest ball and taking a mighty chomp of it.

Roles

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
madmoneymonkey
Lately we have been discussing more about what we can do for Ellie. With our new flexible schedules, we both get to spend a good part of the morning with him and not just squeeze in an hour after-work to play with him. It's great because we can have breakfast together, give him a bath and play with him a lot more than before.

So over a coffee this evening, we decided to take on more distinct roles so there is less overlap and we have to take charge for our individual responsibilities.

So I am now chief educator and Merv is chief nutritionist (ooh, what a surprise! LOL)

When we came up with that, I gleefully told him 'yaay! That means if he wakes up in the middle of the night crying, you have to go and feed him - cos that falls under nutrition!!'

To which he replied 'yeah sure, then you have get up and play with him at 7am every morning - because that falls under education!'

Maan. I think I got the shorter end of the stick because he doesn't wake up every night but he is ALWAYS up and about by around 7am, tugging at our noses, thumping our chests and screaming for us to get up and play with him. Yikes.

Anyhow, Merv is starting to cook everyday for Ellie, to get more nutrition into his diet, introduce new foods to him and make eating fun for him. He gets mashed peas with chicken tomorrow! And I need to start visiting the library more to get fun books for him to read or for me to get ideas of what to do with him (thanks for all your help in the last post!)

Should be fun!

Help!

Mummies out there, pls help!

Everyday I sing the same few songs to put Ellie to sleep, play the same games with him in the car and things can get a little boring (for me at least, he chuckles at the same spot for everything, I can predict when he will laugh!)

These are what I use right now, can give suggestions for more??

Songs for Ellie to sleep to:
1. Jesus loves me
2. A-B-C
3. Jesus loves the little children
4. The Pilgrim's song
5. The Lord's Army

Games to play:
1. Head and shoulders, knees and toes
2. Walker
3. Not much else!

Things to do in the car:
1. Play with the magnetic drawing board (which he bangs with the pen)
2. Read books
3. Toy drum set

Can share some suggeestions on what you do with your babies? Preferably some nice cheap (and free) activities would be swell!

THANKS!!!!

Sick baby and sick mummy

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

These few days of poor Ellie being sick have been tiring. I've had to wash his poopy bum countless times, force-feed him medicine, wake up hourly (YAWN!) at night to carry him so his stuffy nose gets unblocked and generally have a live-in koala on my hip.

But thank God for grandparents who willingly take over some duties! My MIL even came to stay with us last night so I could get a good night's rest. And Merv and I managed to take a night stroll to the 24-hour supermarket, something we haven't done in a long time!

But life still goes on, sick or not. When the going gets tough, the tough...take pictures!

Eating in

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
madmoneymonkey
Because Ellie was all ill last night, we decided to eat at home and cook something healthy that we could all eat together. So Merv bought some fresh Ling fish and cooked up a really yummy grilled fish dish with lemon white wine sauce (none of that for Ellie!) and paired it with a garlic mashed potato (I'm sure lots of you know how to make that, haha!)

Photobucket
Yum yum yum! I love fresh fish and this one was lovely and firm. Texture was like tuna but it was a white fish. Mmmm.

And for dessert, I was inspired by PF's blueberry ice lollies for K, so I went out to NTUC and bought a punnet of blueberries ($2.75), a punnet of strawberries ($2.65) and a box of apple juice (100% juice, no sugar added) ($2.15) and we made a berry boost! 3 lovely cups of berry super-goodness for just $7.55! And poor little sick Ellie needed as much vitamins and antioxidants he could get.

Poor Ellie is rather ill.

It started off with diahorrea last week and since then, he has gotten well, then got a fever, then got well and then fever and diahorrea again, got well and now has got a flu!! Dunno why he seems to be so badly hit this time.

My normally very easygoing baby has become incredibly clingy. He has to be glued to me and constantly needs to be carried. He screams when he loses sight of me and I can't even put him on the ground just opposite me, he will scramble into my lap frantically and won't calm down until he has his side touching mine. While I'm thankful that at least I can calm him down, it is also incredibly tiring!

And from sleeping through the night, he gets up twice through the night now crying for milk because we've had to dilute his milk to curb the diahorrea so he gets hungry much faster. Groan. So not used to getting up in the middle of the night anymore.

My poor lil bub. I really hope he gets well soon!!

If you see this, please pray for Ellie. He is having diahorrea and has done soft smelly poopies 3 times this evening. Sigh. He is upset (can't blame him!) and cries angrily. But thank God he is not running a fever.

Haiyah, after my frivolous post on his hair previously, I feel so dumb. Who cares what hair he has? I just want my happy cheerful and healthy baby back!

Ellie and me

Bev sent me an old photo today and when I opened it, my first thought was 'is that Elliot??' I didn't realise he looked so much like me! It reminded me of when Bev first saw Ellie. She said 'I've never seen a baby that looked so much like both parents. Top half like Merv and lower half like you!'

I think no one can dispute the fact that Ellie's eyes are photocopied off Merv's face. But lower halves of faces are easy to overlook unless you have a strong jaw or something. But putting our baby faces side-by-side, you can CLEARLY see everything from nose downwards is mine!!

Photo evidence that Elliot is my son )
